Description
Does your child struggle to read simple words? Does your child need a reading tutor but that isn’t an option for your family right now? Have you just begun your homeschooling journey and are not sure where to start for reading instruction?
The Foundations Assessments is for you!
The Foundations reading assessment is for elementary students who have yet to master foundational word recognition skills, like identifying letters, sounding out basic words, and reading high frequency words. This reading assessment will help identify the specific foundational skills a student might need to practice in order to become a skilled reader.
This assessment is best for children who are 5-10 years old that have…
- not yet mastered identifying letters and letter sounds
- not yet mastered sounding out consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words, like mat and fun
- not yet automatically reading the first 100 sight words
**If your child has mastered these skills but still struggles to read, check out the Letter Patterns Assessment instead.
The Foundations reading assessment is also good for families who are not sure where to begin with reading instruction. The results will give you a good starting place for instruction.
The Foundations Assessment is made up of 3 (quick) parts – phonemic awareness, decoding, and sight recognition. It can be completed in less than 10-15 minutes depending upon the child’s skill level. No extra materials are needed to complete this assessment, but printing the assessment is encouraged for recording purposes.
Don’t forget – instead of purchasing this reading assessment on its own, you can purchase the Individualized Reading Plan Bundle, which includes this reading assessment. With that bundle, you get all Read Where You Are Assessments, but more importantly, you get a comprehensive Individualized Reading Plan created just for your child.
