Masters in Reading Education
At the beginning of 2020, in the height of the pandemic, I was a kindergarten teacher struggling through infertility and loss while also in graduate school for reading education.
By the end of 2020, life had massively changed. I found myself staying home with our first foster son (a precious 2 year old) and thrilled to be pregnant with our first daughter.
In May 2021, I completed my Masters in Reading Education in the same week that I birthed our daughter.
Finding the balance
Life was crazy just balancing a newborn and toddler, postpartum recovery, and the tumultuous world of foster care. I happily put my professional life on the back burner for a while.
Fast forward three years, we have had five children in foster care in our home. And we now have two biological daughters. While life is still busy with mothering and church, I have found that my mind has a little more space to add my love for teaching back into our life.

Read Where You Are is my attempt to find the delicate balance of staying home with my precious babies and pursuing professional goals.
